Artificial Intelligence Creating a New World of Opportunities for Mankind
Dr. Viktor Frankl was an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist who survived the Auschwitz death camp. Frankl was the founder of the logotherapy method: a concept based on the premise that the primary motivational force of an individual is to find meaning in life.
Dr. Frankl is probably most notable for his best-selling book “Man’s Search for Meaning”, considered one of the most influential books of all time. He wrote the book in 1946, chronicling his experiences in several Nazi concentration camps during WWII and describing a way in which disastrous circumstances can be endured by identifying a purpose in life about which one can feel positive and imagining that outcome.
The ‘empirical study’ Frankl conducted while being a prisoner in several concentration camps led him to the discovery that what keeps people alive in times of profound crisis, suffering, extreme pain, and uncertainty is finding something meaningful in life to cling to.
Dr. Frankl discovered that imagining the outcome of this meaning and purpose in life can be so powerful that it alleviates the pain of ‘here and now’.
We all long for a meaningful life. There are extraordinary capacities in each and every one of us that only require the right setting and an opportunity to materialize.
Throughout history, humanity has built artificial corporate structures that have forced people to be something they are not and do things they are not passionate about. With the advancements of technology, however, this can change.
Our philosophy at MusashiAI is “humane jobs for humans”. It is our passion and the driving force behind what we do. We believe that many rigid, monotonous, tedious, and unsatisfactory jobs should be allocated to machines, enabling humans to express their human capacities for compassion, creativity, and intuition into work where people have added value over machines.
The increased proliferation of Artificial Intelligence technologies will enable humanity to build a better world. These technologies will help make cheaper and more accessible food as well as housing and energy resources. Consequentially, the workplace will also change: it will be modernized and humanized by the development of AI technologies, which will liberate humans to practice more humane jobs.
The current COVID-19 outbreak has had a devastating effect on families and businesses around the globe. AI technology may be insufficiently mature to assist mankind to traverse the current pandemic, but Artificial Intelligence technologies could definitely take a pivotal role in fighting future pandemics: supporting caregivers at the front line while enabling businesses to keep operating with more resilient supply chains and production lines and enabling more stable economies.
Goethe said, “if we treat people as if they were what they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming”. If we do not recognize a man’s will and search for meaning, we make him worse — dull and frustrated. Recognizing that spark, that quest for meaning, enables one to be what he or she is capable of becoming. Artificial Intelligence would be a catalyst for a new world of opportunities for mankind, to find meaning, and to explore our human capacities.
